June 2014: Vacation in Hoenderloo

Monday, the second day of Pentecost, we visited Erik’s parents with Florian. Florian stayed during the day with his grandma and grandpa. Mom and dad went to the beach!
Tuesday Florian I went to visit my oldest sister. She lives in the south of the Netherlands. It was the first time Florian drove almost two hours together. Luckily he was most of the time asleep! It was about 27 degrees I the afternoon, so Florian had his first bath in the garden and liked it a lot! It was nice to have time with my sister to chat. Florian and I stayed there overnight and the next day in the afternoon we drove home again. This time Florian slept the complete ride, so I have a good feeling for our summer holiday in Germany!
Thursday I was busy in the kitchen. I put Florian on his back in the baby gym to play. Later on he was making some noises so I went looking at him. He was laying there on his stomach and looking a bit bothered, because his head was getting very heavy! So cute! It was the first time he rolled over and I was a very proud mom!
Friday we put our apartment for sale so we can search for a nice family house later on. In the evening the Dutch national soccer team was playing his first match of the soccer world championship. They had to play against Spain who won the last time over us for the European championship and got the title. Erik went to Strand-Zuid in Amsterdam with some friends to see the game in public viewing. I had not planned to watch the game, but soon Spain scored and then the Netherlands. After that the Netherlands could not stop scoring so I kept watching. We won with 5-1!
Saturday was “”Vlaggetjesdag” in Scheveningen. Yearly on this day we celebrate that the new herring season has started. In the harbor there is music, some information about the history of Scheveningen and the fishery and off course fish. In the shopping street there were some markets. We visited all and had dinner in the harbor.
Sunday was father’s day in the Netherlands. So this was Erik’s first time!
We had breakfast with the three of us and Erik had his favorite breakfast. In the afternoon we went for a walk on the beach. In the evening we wanted to barbeque, but the weather was not so nice, so Erik grilled the meat and vegetables in a grill pan.
Tuesday I went with Florian to the maternity center/ pediatrician. Florian is now 6 months and he is 71 cm and weights 8,7 kg. So he is doing well!
Friday after Erik worked, we went with the three of us on a vacation to a bungalow in Hoenderloo in the Netherlands, which is in the national park Hoge Veluwe. During our vacation we did not do a lot. We went swimming with Florian in the swimming pool at the bungalow park. We had the whole swimming pool for ourselves, which was very nice. Florian liked the swimming. Furthermore we made some walks, read some books and watched some soccer games. Erik’s parents were also in the neighborhood and visited us twice.
This was the first time we were in Hoenderloo in the summer and this was the first time we saw a fox a roe and a wild boar on the bungalow park near our bungalow., which was very cool.
The last evening we went to the restaurant at the bungalow park for dinner. It was the first time we had dinner in a restaurant together and it went very well! Florian ate with us and got his cooked carrots. They tasted well. After that he got a bit tired so he got his bottle of milk. Then he fell asleep and we decided to also take a dessert!
Saturday I went shopping and Erik watched out for Florian. Really nice to be shopping in the city center again and having all the time I needed!
Sunday we went to a park in the neighborhood of our house. We had lunch in the tea garden and enjoyed the sun.
